The result is a pure iron that can be used in electric arc furnace during steel production. Another method is smelting reduction where different smelting methods may be used. The final method is called coke oven sinter blast furnace method. These involve splintering of iron ore and after that the coal coke and iron are put in blast furnace to produce molten iron. Production of Steel as the Final Process

After the iron is produced the next step is steel production. There are two methods that may be used and the type of iron to be used will differ. One of the methods is the basic oxygen furnace method. This method uses molten iron from the blast furnace method or smelting method. The molten iron is put in the basic oxygen furnace to undergo carbon oxidation and the end product is molten steel. Another method is electric arc furnace method. This method uses pig iron, scrap steel or steel from direct reduction method. An electric arc is used to melt this iron to produce molten steel. These two methods produce crude steel and by continuous casting, the steel is processed. These steel may be finished into either alloy steel or carbon steel. Alloy steel undergoes treatment with appropriate chemicals before it is re-rolled. Carbon steel does not undergo any further treatment and it is re-rolled as it is into the preferred form.
